Accessibility Statement

Last updated: February 14, 2026

IRIS IEP is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including people with disabilities. A system that serves students with disabilities must itself be fully accessible.

1. Our Standards

We strive to conform to the following accessibility standards:

  • WCAG 2.1 Level AA: The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), provide the benchmark for our accessibility efforts.
  • Section 508: We work to comply with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, which requires federal agencies and their partners to make electronic information accessible.
  • ADA Title II: As a system used by public school districts, we recognize our obligation to ensure accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

2. Accessibility Features

The IRIS IEP platform includes the following accessibility features:

  • Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy
  • ARIA labels and landmarks for screen reader navigation
  • Keyboard navigation support throughout the application
  • Sufficient color contrast ratios meeting WCAG AA minimums
  • Focus indicators for interactive elements
  • Alternative text for images and visual content
  • Responsive design that supports text resizing up to 200%
  • Form labels and error messages associated with their controls

3. Known Limitations

We are continuously working to improve the accessibility of the IRIS IEP platform. Some areas that are currently being addressed include:

  • Some complex data tables may not be fully optimized for screen readers
  • Certain PDF documents generated by the system may have limited accessibility features
  • Some third-party components may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards

We are actively working to remediate these issues and will update this statement as improvements are made.

4. Assistive Technology Compatibility

IRIS IEP is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver)
  • Screen magnification software
  • Speech recognition software
  • Keyboard-only navigation

5. Third-Party Accessibility Auditing

We plan to engage an independent third-party accessibility auditor to conduct a comprehensive VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) assessment. Results will be made available to district partners upon completion.

6. Feedback & Reporting Issues

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of the IRIS IEP platform. If you encounter any accessibility barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us:

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 business days and to resolve reported issues as quickly as possible.

7. Enforcement & Complaints

If you believe you have been discriminated against due to an accessibility issue, you may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (OCR) or contact your school district's Section 504 coordinator.
